Electronics are chock-full of gold, but getting it out is so difficult that most of it goes to waste.A New Zealand startup has found a way to extract gold from old circuit boards using inexpensive chemicals and microbes that absorb precious metals. The founders hope it will reinvent how the world deals with e-waste.
very interesting! its a worthy cause that mint are pursuing

That’s an eye opener. I have worked at a re-use it facility and in the I.T Industry. No one buys used, it just goes to an E Recycling facility. Who knows exactly where it goes? I do my best to fix old computers and use them as long as I can. It’s a big problem, just as bad as plastic. The video was right, “We need to turn off the tap, instead of mopping up the excess water”
This company in New Zealand called “Mint Innovation” has begun a brilliant process of using ‘Microbes’ to extract precious metals such as gold, silver, copper, platinum, palladium, etc., from used circuit boards (a.k.a., e-waste)…Absolutely BRILLIANT! I’m very supportive of this ingenious idea and concept to help eliminate worldwide Electronic waste (a.k.a., e-waste) and truly hope this idea gains traction particularly in undeveloped countries where most e-waste winds up in dump facilities, water systems such as streams, rivers, lakes and oceans that create toxic environments!
