Athlete’s Foot Natural Remedies

A fungus of the feet, athlete’s foot affects adults primarily. The bacteria eat dead skin and can cause itching, burning and cracking of the skin between the toes. It is caused by having a warm damp environment where the feet are warm and sweat; not changing socks often enough or washing feet. Modern medicine treats it with chemical anti-fungal used topically and internally, although the underlying cause is not treated.

From the natural perspective, the Chinese describe it as a damp heat condition. Many have used natural topicals for relatively fast results while using internal products over several months to eliminate the causes.

Use a probiotic like Primadophalis Reuteri internally. Eliminate sugars that feed the condition. No alcohol, fruit juices (too concentrated) or refined sugars.

Fainting Natural Remedies

Fainting happens when a person experiences temporary loss of consciousness. They may turn pale, sweat, feel light-headed, fall, have leg weakness, or experience dizziness. Fainting can happen when blood rushes to the head from various causes. Sometimes with fainting there is a rapid heartbeat.

Causes of fainting include strong odors, emotional excitement or upset, mineral imbalances, hypoglycemia, anemia, dehydration, cardiovascular or neurological problems. Medications such as anti-depressants, tranquilizers, or high blood pressure medicines may also cause someone to feel faint. Modern medicine mostly uses electrolytes and changes in diet to help with fainting. No major drugs are used.

Naturally, look for the cause of fainting and treat the cause. If medications are not causing fainting, look to the nervous system or blood sugar problems (hypoglycemia). Natural supplements can help with fainting: Chromium and frequent protein shakes help keep blood sugar levels normal for those with hypoglycemia.

Bags Under Eyes Natural Remedies

Unsightly swelling of the area under the eyes; the appearance can come quickly with kidney problems or long-term with kidney, liver, and colon problems. Causes are kidney or liver weakness. Medicine sees the bags as a weakness in the connective tissue around the eyes. They use surgery to remove eye bags, but bags may return as the cause has not been addressed.

From the natural perspective we see eye bags as kidney or bladder weakness. The eye most affected represents the kidney most affected. There can also be liver or colon involvement when the eye bags are lower under the eyes. This may be a sign of poor nutritional health. Stay away from alcohol, tobacco, coffee, black tea, soda, and fast food. Chronic therapy can take 6 – 12 months to reduce.

Natural Bad Breath Remedies

Bad breath is an offensive odor coming from the mouth. The most common cause is poor digestion. Some say constipation may also cause bad breath. Medications which block or reduce stomach acid may cause bad breath. Sinus problems may also be a cause. Very rarely, bad breath may be a sign of tuberculosis, syphilis, cancer, or even AIDS. Other causes include smelly foods (sardines, garlic, onions, salami, or other strong smelling foods), hunger, or dental problems. Remember to have regular dental checkups. Modern medicine doesn’t usually treat bad breath unless a severe medical problem is seen.

Bad breath is not treated by doctors with the exception of examining teeth for infection or to give antibiotics for recurring sinus infections. The natural way to get rid of bad breath is to find the cause. Remember, the cause could be as simple constipation or stress.

First, eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, soda pop, and fast foods. These things disturb the digestion and contribute to bad breath. Chewing gum may stimulate saliva and better digestion. Further, eating parsley or chewing anise or fennel seeds are natural ways to refresh bad breath.

Next, use supplements to help better digestion; using HCL (to break down proteins in food) with meals or even Papaya to increase digestion and reduce constipation. Also, remember to drink plenty of water; stay hydrated.

Baby Congestion Natural Remedies

Nasal congestion in babies interferes with sleeping and feeding, when nasal pathways are blocked. Congestion comes when a nursing mother may have a diet too rich in dairy products or there is too much stress from lack of sleep which affects the quality of mother’s milk. The baby may have allergies to the formula.

For baby congestion, most healthcare professionals recommend sucking out the mucus from the nose or using a decongestant if the child is old enough. From the natural perspective, we should look first at the mother’s diet, and help the mother and child to normalize mucus secretions to reduce congestion. Clearing the nose is helpful.

A humidifier with a few drops eucalyptus oil in the water may be helpful at night. It is good symptomatic relief.

Nursing mothers need to pay attention to their diet; also avoid tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, coffee, and soda.

If baby is on formula, you may need to change it.

Acid Reflux or GERD Natural Remedies

Your stomach acid helps digest your food. This stomach acid is very strong – the same acidity as battery acid. While the stomach can handle this, the more sensitive esophagus cannot. When the stomach sphincter is too weak, stomach acid regurgitates up into the esophagus, and causes a burning sensation called Heartburn. While occasional heartburn is common, more frequent, ongoing heartburn may be Acid Reflux, or GERD. Symptoms of acid reflux include burning chest pain, sour taste in the mouth, difficulty swallowing, belching, hoarseness, and sometimes breathing difficulties. Acid Reflux symptoms are worse from lying down or bending over.

Acid Reflux may be caused by a poor diet with too much citrus, certain spices, and fatty or irritating foods. Check with your doctor as some medications promote acid reflux. Smoking, alcohol, coffee, and other foods will make Acid Reflux symptoms worse.

Doctor’s treatment for acid reflux usually entails antacids and proton pump inhibitors that stop or slow down stomach acid, which may cause nutritional deficiencies and contribute to osteoporosis and immune dysfunction. They especially reduce B vitamins, iron and calcium.

The goal from a natural perspective to help Acid Reflux is to first relieve symptoms with natural remedies, and then correct the dietary imbalances. Start with a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and mild meats such as chicken, turkey and fish, then add cell salts, homeopathy, and herbs to correct the underlying causes of acid reflux. Additionally, it is important to address stressful conditions in a person’s life.
